Description

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

If you look up 1950s America in the dictionary, chances are a photo of a Bel Air will be next to the definition. Despite a long production run from 1951 to 1981, the most famous Bel Airs are the 1955 to 1957 models. The styling was unique and all new, with even a Ferrari inspired grill. Powerful V8s and optional automatic transmission meant the Bel Air was cutting edge as far as mechanicals. It was a high water mark for Chevrolet and the cars were even referred to as the “Hot One” in marketing literature.

The ’57 example here is powered by a healthy 434 ci V8 (Dart Sportsman Iron block– Brodix heads) paired with a 5 speed Tremec manual transmission. The power is sent to a custom Ford 9 inch rear end that is all rebuilt. Other highlights include Centerforce clutch, dash clock, Grant GT steering wheel, BeCool aluminum radiator, headers, Edelbrock intake, Holey carburetor, tacheometer. The body is laser straight and the doors snap shut properly. The chrome and paint polish to a shine and present very well. If you are looking for a peppy ’57 then look no further!
